During life as an artist form YANG,YANG have endeavored to specialize in printmaking, and screen printing has become major area of interest.
Took an interest in three dimensional art when studied at the State University of New York. Have transferred from the MFA Program in Printmaking to the Sculpture Program and set out journey into the world of three – dimensional prints. Ever since then, YANG have been on the road, working hard on achieving a breakthrough at every stage of exploration.
The use of different mediums is essential for YANG art creation. YANG of the opinion that mediums of diffetent nature should be in agreement with each other;different techniques, likewise, should be integrated in an artwork.
Artistic creation that is free from any limitations will, YANG firmly believe, add a new dimension to and increase the potential of artworks. With the aim of enriching the forms of multiple prints and enhancing its possibility, have explored as many different materials as possible;Make continual attempts to integrate different materials into prints. In addition, constantly try multiple printing processes and use varied mediums to broaden the scope of printmaking as well as to increase its visual plurality. Mix different types of printmaking such as relief, intaglio, and serigraphy and incorporate the expressions of printing into YANG prints. These prints are used as the base of sculptures. Then, paper pulp, glass, conductive ink, Iuminescence, and other materials are blended and applied to these prints.
The flat prints become three – dimensional after being made through processes such as molding, rolling over, plate making, transfer printing, casting, kilning, rubbing, and conducting electricity.
YANG think all artworks should originate from an agreement of different objects as well as from a harmonic combination of different elements. When create, wonder between the big and small, the complex and simple, and the imaginary and real, trying to transform flat prints into three – dimensional forms. It is also YANG hope to convey eastern aesthetics by means of western mediums and techniques.
